ULUI Fall Conference 2024 – Our 25th Annual Event!

Governor Spencer Cox joined Rep. Stephen Whyte to engage with those attending on his Starter Homes Initiative.  Wednesday morning panels included those on the front lines of this effort, both from the Governor’s office and in the building and real estate community, including Cameron Diehl, Utah League of Cities and Towns; John Salevurakis, Utah Foundation; Chris Gamvroulas, Ivory Homes; and Alissa Dailey, Utah Assn. of Realtors.

Wilf Sommerkorn, Brent Bateman and Todd Godfrey lead the engaging Tuesday discussion – Myth Busters – Top Ten (or so) Common Legal Problems in Land Use.  They not only know the problems, but have worked through solutions related to sticky issues planners and land use attorneys are confronted with.

Other topics this year:

  • Real world example of the approval of 275 starter homes.
  • Land use dispute resolution – time for a state-wide appeal authority?
  • Recent land use court decisions, pending legislation, and Utah’s legal challenge to federal land management.
  • Wellness and positive relationships for land use professionals.
  • Impact fees, development exactions, and the US Supreme Court Sheetz decision.
  • Financing Infrastructure.
